Dr. Kieran Richardson (FACP) is a Specialist Physiotherapist, conferred by the Australian College of Physiotherapists (Australian Physiotherapy Association) in 2016.
Dr Richardson is the Director of Global Specialist Physiotherapy, a consultancy company providing online Formal Mentoring and Professional Development individual clinicians, clinics, and groups, as well as Second Opinions to clinicians and directly to patients all around the world.
He has presented in state, national and international conferences, and has a special interest in evidence-based, non-surgical management of musculoskeletal conditions and recognition of these strategies within the Physiotherapy profession, as well as interprofessionally and to the general public.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, his clinical role within Global Specialist Physiotherapy has shifted, whereby now he and his team offer primarily telehealth non-surgical second opinion consultations for patients with pain and injury locally in Australia and around the world.
He has conducted research into the biopsychosocial nature of musculoskeletal pain and injury, online information about the management of anterior cruciate ligament ruptures in Australia and is currently a part of an expert group of clinicians assisting the Australian Knee Injury Study through La Trobe University in Victoria.

Addressing Wound Management
The cost of chronic wounds in Australia is estimated to be $3 Billion per year, impacting 420,000 Australians. Not only is this a national economic concern, but more importantly, is the suffering the person may be going through.
Australian Health Journal met with Hayley Ryan, Board Director and Chair at Wounds Australia and Director at WoundRescue to hear her work in chronic wound management, palliative wounds and pressure injury prevention to comfort those living with a wound.

Stroke care advances in translated research
New nurse-led protocols for stroke patients, based on ACU research, led by the Nursing Research Institute, have resulted in changes to policy, guidelines and clinical practice in Europe and Australia. The protocols were developed through the Quality in Acute Stroke Care (QASC) Trial (published in the Lancet, 2011) to manage fever, hyperglycaemia and swallowing (FeSS) post-stroke.

Dr Marg Rogers is a Senior Lecturer in Early Childhood Education at University of New England (UNE) in Armidale, New South Wales. She is a prominent figure in early childhood education New South Wales, and is also a Post Doctoral Fellow at the Manna Institute, a mental health research organisation within the regional university network across Australia, that is building place based research capacity to improve the mental health of regional, rural and remote Australia.
